After placing gems in a piece of gear for your Necromancer in your buy D2R ladder items: Resurrection game, you received better gems and desired to place them in the same piece of gear again. What method do you use to extract the old treasures from that gear? By splintering their very essence and destroying them with the incredible power of the Horadric Cube, you can put an end to their existence forever.

There's no such thing as simply popping the gems out in an easy, breezy manner. No, not at all. In order to remove gems from your gear, you'll need to use the mystical artifact itself to accomplish this. If you're a veteran of Diablo 3, you might have expected something along the lines of that game's approach, in which you can talk to a demented potential demigod who has followed you home from the sewers, but that is not the case in Diablo 2: Hellfire. Instead, cheap Diablo 2 resurrected ladder items: Hellfire takes a different approach. Resurrected — it is completely impossible to remove gems from a piece of equipment using any other method than Resurrected.

I understand what you're saying. After all, gems are not available for purchase in buy D2R runes: Resurrected. The only way to obtain them is through one of three methods: you can loot them off of monster corpses that you created yourself by using a live monster and your various methods of killing said monster, you can find them in chests at random, or you can go up to a gem shrine without having any gems in your inventory. That's right, there will be no visits from a friendly character voiced by the legendary James Hong. In this game, you have a cube, and gleaming that cube is the only way to upgrade your gems as well as your skulls — that is, demon skulls can be used as gems in this game as well.

To begin with, the Horadric Cube, which was previously mentioned, is required in order to remove those gems. To begin, obtain the Cube if you haven't already done so. Second, you'll need a Town Portal scroll as well as a Hel rune, and you'll need to place both of these items inside the Horadric Cube alongside the socketed item you're working with. What is the best way to obtain a Hel rune? You can potentially obtain them by defeating Treasure Goblins on a Normal or higher difficulty setting. When playing on Nightmare or Hell difficulty, you can farm them from the Countess in Act 1, or you can farm them from the Hellforge, which is also available on Nightmare or Hell difficulty. The Hellforge has about a 1 in 11 chance of dropping them.

Alternatively, you can use the Horadric Cube itself to transmute three Dol runes and one chipped emerald into a single Hel rune by using the Horadric Cube itself. In the same way that Hel runes can be obtained by defeating the same enemies as Dol runes can be obtained by transmuting three Shael runes and a chipped ruby, I believe you're beginning to grasp the concept that the Horadric Cube is both the cause and the solution to all of your Diablo 2 problems.

Regardless, place the socketed item, a Hel rune, and a scroll of Town Portal into the Horadric Cube. The gems in that item will be destroyed by the power of the rune and scroll in question, and you will lose both the rune and the scroll as a result of this destruction. It's possible that you teleport the gems to a city somewhere? I have no idea. However, because they are no longer included in the gear, you are free to add any number of new goodies to it. But that's the only way to get gems out of your gear in Diablo 2 — you have to harness the cosmic power of an unfathomable artifact in order to appear to shatter them into cosmic dust. In the end, because they are both Diablo games, there are certain aspects of the series that are shared between the two games. It is unavoidable that there will be differences — and hopefully, improvements — between Diablo 2 and Diablo 3. However,  invents many of the tropes and systems that Diablo 3 reacts to, so it is unavoidable that there will be differences.
